Malaki missed his 1 year session because he was sick, so we had his makeup day today. He did great and even let loose a few smiles for me...he can be a serious dude :) I love his expressions and who can resist those big brown eyes!? Sabrina came to celebrate the upcoming birth of her 2nd child. It's a special way to include Big brother Ethan and make him feel like a big part of this new life coming into their family. Ethan has had some stage freight in the past at our sessions, so I was REALLY happy when he let me get some shots of him too. He loved wrestling and playing around with his mommy while I clicked away. Sabrina definitely has that beautiful pregnancy glow :)

Even though it decided to come an full fledged downpour right before we started, we still got a great session in! Brynn is 10 months old and full of smiles :) We found cover for a while, then ventured out into the sprinkles when the rain eased up. Of course, as we were wrapping up, the sun started to shine...isn't that how it goes!? But we got some beautiful shots anyway and she even let her Mommy in for a few :)

This little sweetie is barely a week old. All those little wrinkles! Newborn sessions tend to take a little longer than normal portrait sessions. You have to allow time for feedings(even if you have fed them right before, it's going to happen...they will want to eat again!). Then there are the diaper changes(inevitable considering they wanted to double up on lunch and we're talking multiple changes). And then we have to allow time to get them settled back down to snoozing. Newborns like to be snuggly and cozy. Once they hit their spot on the poser, I hate to even move them again when they get so comfy! But oh how sweet they are when it's all said and done...

What defines a circus?

Not these kids! Even though their Mommy might disagree after this session...she actually wanted me to label her gallery name Circus :) It's always more stressful for the parents, and when you try for bigger family shots, that can amplify the chaos. But that's the great part about sessions here. We can take our time and let the kids go. Kids and babies like to do their own thing, and I love when I catch those shots that show exactly that...their little personalities. The one thing I love, is that the best images are not always the perfectly posed, smiling ones. The most honest ones make the most memorable. Sometimes it's a silly, scrunched up face, a wide open giggle, sweet little girls twirling around, showing off their new dress. Sometimes it's a genuine moment of sweetness from one sibling to the other. Whatever it is, it's real. And I'm here to get it all!

2010 Preview of some upcoming changes:

With a minimum $ print purchase, you will receive a complimentary disk with all the session images. You will be able to reprint images up to a 4x6 beautifully. This will be perfect for sharing with friends and family, making cards and announcements, and email/web use. It's important to have digital copies of your images. This allows you to have access to them anytime you need prints or products. It's also a very significant keepsake that you can share and look back on for many years to come.

While the print prices will be increasing a bit, there will be a new order deadline policy taking effect. If you place your order by the order deadline, you will receive 15% off regular print pricing!

The portrait session's structure is changing...there will now be 5 types of sessions. The Giggles sessions will be available for one child; the Hugs session will be available for siblings or One Family; the Kisses session will be available for couples and engagements;, the Bellies session will be available for the Mommy-to-be; and the Legacy session will be available for Extended Families. Sometimes sessions need to be more customized, depending on your familial structure. When you contact me to schedule a session, I will make sure we get the right session that fits your photography needs.

Some new products that will be offered include Matboard mounting(prevents print wrinkling and adds support), Gallery Wraps(1.5" width stretcher frame, ready to hang-no frame needed), and Square prints ranging from 5x5 to 20x20.

With the New Year comes new changes! For 2010, I will be updating the pricing as well as changing the structure of sessions. I want to give all my clients an opportunity to purchase prints at the 2009 pricing before the 2010 price increase takes effect. If you would like to purchase any prints at last year's price, please do so by January 31st. After that, everything will be updated to the 2010 pricing. I would say 'Blame the economy!', which is a very accurate statement, but I think everyone knows that is the reason, so it doesn't need to be reiterated over and over! :)

Happy Halloween! Everyone loves getting the cute costumes for the kids. But it's hard to find time to get a nice portrait done with them in it! And like most of you, I don't need Halloween pics hanging all over the house all through the year. But it is nice to have one good shot of the kiddos in their costume for the photo album or scrapbook. I mean, you put all that money into a costume for them to wear ONE night! You at least want to be able to look back on it and remember it. That's how I feel as a mom. So I thought it would be fun this year to have a Halloween event to do just that. Capture those little ones in their costume best! Not only is this a fun opportunity to have your child's portrait done, it is also an opportunity to participate in the Goblins and Giggles Costume Contest. The grand prize is a Free Portrait Session and a $50 print credit, which will be handy to use towards a Christmas session, or whatever type of portrait session you want! Miss J is such a little wiggle worm! She really wanted to stand up but since she is only almost 4 months old, that would be a hard task...but that surely didn't keep her from trying! Every time we would get her situated for a pic, she would scoot right down. It was too funny. She is a very easygoing baby(thankfully!) and didn't mind me scooting her right back up every time! My portfolio galleries have been in desperate need of updating. In an insomniac stupor last night, I was able to do just that...update 'em! I am fortunate to have a lot of beautiful images to share but limited these galleries to the most current ones, with a few older ones that I just had to leave in. If you haven't looked thru the Client galleries to see new sessions or haven't followed the blog long to see some of my favorites, My Work showcases some of my favs from all the recent sessions. When I switched over computers back in December, it was difficult to transfer the website over, so I got a little lazy and slack! Wow...that is sad...and embarrassing. It's July now, right? Forgive me and I will try to do better!

Hope everyone has a Happy and SAFE July 4th! It's my birthday, so I'm excited. You are welcome to everyone for me having my birthday on the 4th, giving you a day off work and fireworks to enjoy! Joking, of course...but I really did believe the fireworks were for me when I was little. Go figure. Well, my family still humors me anyway...

So I'm back from vacation, and it was so nice! But as much fun as it was, we were all ready to get back home! Little Madison came to have her picture made for her Grandpa for Father's Day, who(you guessed it) is a Steelers Fan. She missed her nap earlier that day, so after a few shots with her Mommy(who is expecting TWINS next month), we headed outside for some fresh air. Once outside, she was happy and ready to play. I'm excited to introduce a new line of photo purses, bags, and wallets! Some of you may be thinking...'cheesy, slip in photo, plastic bags'. Not these! Images are not removable...they are actually "baked" into the fabric through what is known as a sublimation process. This sublimation process actually embeds the image into the fabric. The result is an extremely clear image that will not fade, crack or peel. Images are printed on a white, high-quality micro fiber. The rest of the bag is also constructed with an extremely durable micro fiber. Some bags also include options for leather upgrades. There are many styles and I am currently working on getting them added to the online store. I will let you guys know as soon as they are available online for purchase.

Baby Reagan

Little Reagan is 2 and 1/2 weeks old and so precious! She would curl up, almost into a ball...it was too cute. And what a little wiggle worm. Like most newborns who need their snoozes, when she would find her comfy spot, she would try to get in a nap, but she did open her eyes occasionally to make her Mommy happy. About half way through the session, she was wide-eyed...and in a pretty good mood...she tolerated my camera in her face anyway! Check out this sweet little cutie..

It's Official!

I am now officially able to focus on my photography FULL TIME! With this change, I am now able to open up more days and time for portrait sessions. I've been working hard for this for a long time and I am so excited that I have finally gotten to this point. I will now be able to take appointments through the week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and most Saturdays. Tuesdays and Thursdays are set aside for evening appointments as I will be helping my sister take care of my nephew on these days(which I'm also very excited about!). Before, I was working a full time job and doing pictures in all my free time. It would get a little overwhelming at times, trying to divide my time with work, sessions and most importantly, my family. I am so thankful for all my clients and the great business I have been getting. I feel truly blessed with how everything has worked out and can't wait to start this new path in my life. I'm in to week two already, and can tell a huge difference in my stress level! Taking pictures is what I feel I am meant to do and I'm so lucky that I get to do what I love for a living. Thank you to every one who has supported me through all this, and thank you to all my loyal clients who keep coming back and to all the new clients who have been trying me out! The most important thing to me is to create long lasting relationships with each and every person that walks through my door. If I can make you comfortable in front of the camera, I've done my job! So anyway, with that big news aside, I just want everyone to know that allowing me to take your picture means more to me than just a click of the camera. I try to see beyond the smiles...I see the real, human joys, the real emotion...silly faces, pouty faces, happy faces. I'm here to capture it all.

Now, it has been a very busy couple months and I realize that I have gotten quite a bit behind on my photo sharing. I promise to do better on this as I have the actual time to do it now! I've gotten a lot of great comments about the blog and I'm glad you guys are enjoying it! I've had a lot of sessions lately, so as hard as it is for me, I'm going to try to pick only ONE image from each session to share, so I don't overload the blog...lol.

Paige came for her 9 month pics. Cannot believe she is already there, pulling up on things, looking cute as ever. Okay, I lied above...I can't limit it when I have more than one cute kid per session. I can't leave out big bro Pierson!This was Madilyn's first time and I was warned ahead of time that she could be shy. She did cling to Mommy a little at first, but with one M&M, that shyness was long gone...We got some great shots showing her little personality. Too cute!Cutie Cooper came decked out in his Easter best. He can work the sport jacket, let me tell ya. He was on the move, as most one year olds are, but I managed to sneak some cute shots in on him. Look at this pose, total model on our hands here, with the serious look...Little Cayden is used to me by now with him being here more than a few times before. Everyone who got to use the bunny this Easter can thank Cayden, as he is the owner of Mr. Fuzzy Wuzzy. Mylee turned ONE! Her nickname is Smiley Mylee for good reason. She is such a happy baby. She did well with the outfit changes, but you know how it is with little girl clothes. They are so cute, it's hard to resist!Peyton came back for Easter pics. I just love his rosy, little cheeks. He looks like such a little man now. Gavin and Adrienne came to see me for the first time. These kids are so photogenic. Very well behaved! I had fun getting to know this brother and sister pair.Sarah is a new addition to this big ol' world and what a sweet little baby! She didn't get upset with us one time, with the outfit changes and such. I just love new babies! Little Taryn is a neighbor, so she didn't have to travel too far. While she wasn't feeling great, she had a great session...guess pics bring out good feelings, huh?Aiden and Ali came by again for some Easter pics. While they weren't thrilled with the idea of getting pictures done, we got some great ones, showing some real personality. I love the candid ones and I got to sneak a few in when they didn't even know it!Pacey was in a for a visit with family so he stopped by for some Easter pics. He was so happy to be here, he could hardly contain it!My little buddy, Kael and his baby brother Kagan are so sweet. Kael brought some bouncy balls with him and they proved to be handy in getting their attention. I think there is still one rolling around here somewhere though...This little chunk has been coming to see me since he was in his Mommy's tummy. I can't believe how he has grown! He has always been the serious dude, but he showed off his dimples a few times!Cousins, Kimber, Mylee and Pacey came for some group shots. While you may be thinking, how do you get a group shot of two One year olds and an infant? Very carefully! They are all super cute kids, and I love getting to take their pics!

Spring is Here!

So, I had a busy weekend last week...took a break this weekend to help celebrate my hubby's 29th birthday and get in some much needed family time. Got to take Bailey to the Beauty and the Beast play at the high school and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course, Bailey's favorite part was when she got to hold up her lighted rose, along with everyone else in the crowd. It's been so rainy this week and while I love a good lazy, rainy day, I'm ready for some sunshine! The rain has been much needed though, as now everything is blooming outside in my yard. Along with the Spring colors in the yard, I've also been enjoying the Spring colors in the studio. The color theme this year are brights and my little subjects so far this Spring have definitely been brightening up my studio. Here are some faves from last weekend. Okay, I've been a little slack this week with getting up some posts to share...I have been adding a cool, new part to my website this weekend! Dana Cochran Photography's Store is now open for business! Please check it out and browse through all the new products I am now offering. All the products are top of the line, high quality custom portrait jewelry and gifts. Every jewelry piece is classified as 'Heirloom Quality', meaning it is made to stand the test of time. I think I have FINALLY gotten all of the collection up. I know my clients are constantly looking for new, unique things, and I feel that this product line offers just that. Audrey came for her 6 month session this weekend. She brought along big sister Gracie for some fun too. They both were dressed pretty in pink in their Easter dresses. Once Gracie posed for her pics, she ran off to play with Bailey's toys while Audrey had some clothing changes. Audrey is sitting up really well, but she would rather be standing! Kimber came this weekend for some birthday fun. Last time she was here for Christmas, and since then, she has started walking. Wow, how amazing to see how things change so much in just a short time. Kimber's birthday is on February 14th...wasn't she a great valentine for her parents? We got some great birthday shots, then we brought out the cake...Two words...RED ICING. And Kimber was definitely a fan! Enjoy!

Brady is turning two and he is having a dinosaur party. Brady has been coming to see me since he was a newborn. Well, that doesn't mean much to a two year old who has no interest in sitting still for a picture. It became a game with us...I would go the opposite direction and hide and he would go right where he was supposed to be for a picture. He would give me just long enough to get where I needed to get to snap the pic, and would take off! Ms. Elaynah turns 1!

Today I had Ms. Paige for her 6 month pictures. She has been coming to see me since she was in her Mommy's belly and it has been so fun watching her change over the months. I can't believe how well she is sitting up on her own now and I know it won't be long before she is on the move. I got to try out my new flower petal background and what a pretty baby to have to do so. Just a few minutes into the session, she started really getting into it, loving the attention with the camera. Serious model material here! I really enjoyed today's session, so fun and relaxed! Here are some of my favorites...

Out with the Old!

For most people, the New Year brings a time to start fresh. Start anew. With January sessions already off to a great start, I think it's time to make room for new sessions and clean up my hard drive! Out with the old, in with the New! I will be archiving all my images from PORTRAIT sessions prior to December 2008. Archiving means I will be removing them from my computer and filing them away. During this process, I am offering all my clients the opportunity to purchase your images from sessions, on a disk (high resolution 'negatives'-this is what I print from) with reprint rights. All proofs from the session will be on the disk. And this means you will have access to your images forever and will be able to reprint anywhere you choose or use them to share with friends and family online! The disk, with reprint rights, will be available for $100. If you had more than one session with me, each additional disk from each additional session will be $50. This disk is only available if you placed a portrait order with the session. If you did not make an initial order, you won't be eligible for this. Also, this is valid for Portrait sessions only, not Weddings...sorry! I'll be offering this for a limited time, so if you are interested, please let me know before February 28, 2009. Thanks for checking out my new blog! This is my first time blogging, so please forgive me if I ramble! My hope for this blog is to keep my clients and potential clients informed on things going on with Dana Cochran Photography. Here, I can share recent session favorites and current promotions or specials. This will also be one of my many New Year's Resolutions! Keep this blog up to date for all you interested! I'm always thinking of new things and new offers to keep things fresh and fun. So, this blog will be my home for sharing these ideas and thoughts. So please, feel free to comment and give your input on anything I post. So, let's get started...

As many of my current clients can see, I have been redoing the website. I was actually in the process of switching over my computers, from a laptop to a desktop. Thought it would be easy enough to do, but the website did not want to cooperate. Thus, a new one has been created. There are some pages I am still working on getting back up, but I am definitely getting it back together. I have added a couple new things, one being this new blog and another is a small online ordering area on your gallery page. This is a new thing that I wanted to try out to see if it was easier for some clients to use in the ordering process... So far, so good. I have had quite a few orders come through already and there seem to be no issues with it. I have an info page on the website that can walk you through, but it seems to be pretty easy. This is one way that anyone can order at anytime and all the orders come automatically to me.

In the days coming up, I will be posting some new and exciting offers. Please keep checking back for those! Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so I will have a Valentine's Special going on too. Also, I already have a few new things in the works for portraits, so I'm looking forward to sharing those.
